HuePort
Get matched with a painter — free
Tell us a little about your painting project and where you live, and HuePort will connect you, free, with licensed, insured painting contractors near you. You compare written quotes and choose who to hire.
What HuePort does
HuePort is a free matching service for homeowners and renters planning an interior or exterior painting project. We are not a painting company, licensed contractor, or paint store, and we do not perform painting work.
We help you take the next step: share basic project details, get connected with painters in your area, compare written quotes, and decide who you want to hire. You stay in control of the color, scope, price, and final decision.
What we ask for
We keep it simple. We ask for your name, phone number, optional email, project type, whether it is interior or exterior, your ZIP code, preferred language, and any notes you want to share.
That helps us understand your project intent and connect you with painters who serve your area. We do not ask for bank account numbers, Social Security numbers, income details, or other sensitive personal records.
How the matching process works
You can read the full process on How It Works, but the short version is simple:
- Tell us about your project and how to reach you.
- We connect you with licensed, insured painting contractors near you.
- You talk with painters, ask questions, and get written quotes.
- You compare price, prep, paint brand or grade, timeline, and scope.
- You choose who to hire — or choose not to move forward.
Before work starts, make sure the color, finish, number of coats, prep work, and total price are in writing. That helps you compare fairly and avoid surprises.
Cost, quotes, and avoiding overcharging
Painting costs in the United States vary a lot by surface, condition, prep, number of coats, paint grade, access or height, and your local area. As a very general example, one room might cost a few hundred to over a thousand dollars, while a full exterior can run into the thousands. These are ranges, not quotes. For more detail, visit Costs.
Be careful with vague pricing, large cash deposits up front, door-to-door “today only” offers, no proof of license or insurance, or pressure to sign right away. Ask for the scope, paint, color, finish, and price in writing first, and compare a few quotes.
The lowest number is not always the best value. Good prep takes time, and prep often makes the biggest difference in how the finished paint looks and how long it lasts.
Color help and a few smart questions to ask
If you are still choosing a color, start with Colors. A good painter can also explain how sheen, lighting, and surface condition affect the final look.
When you speak with a painter, ask:
- Are you licensed and insured for my area?
- What prep is included?
- How many coats are included?
- What paint brand or grade is in the quote?
- Who moves furniture, protects floors, or covers landscaping?
- How will touch-ups and cleanup be handled?
If your home was built before 1978, old paint may contain lead. Ask how the painter follows lead-safe work practices. That is an important safety question, and local rules may vary.
HuePort helps you, free, find local licensed, insured painters so you can compare written quotes and choose who to hire.
Common questions
Is HuePort a painting company?
No. HuePort is a free matching service, not a painting company, contractor, or paint store. We help connect you with licensed, insured painters near you.
Do I have to pay HuePort to get matched?
No. The service is free for the homeowner. You can compare quotes and decide whether you want to hire a painter.
What information do I need to share?
Just basic contact and project details: name, phone, optional email, project type, interior or exterior, ZIP code, preferred language, and optional notes. We do not ask for financial account numbers, SSNs, or income information.
Can you tell me exactly what my project will cost?
No. We can share general cost information, but the real price depends on the surface, prep, number of coats, paint quality, access, and your area. Written quotes from painters are the best way to compare.
How do I avoid getting overcharged?
Get a few written quotes and compare the prep, paint, scope, and total price. Be cautious if someone gives vague pricing, asks for a large cash deposit up front, or pressures you to sign immediately.
What if my home was built before 1978?
Older paint may contain lead. Ask the painter how they follow lead-safe work practices, and check local requirements in your area.
